Food Service

  • A healthy snack is provided for all children in the morning and afternoon classes.
    • Morning snack is served about 10:30 am.
    • Afternoon snack is served about 2:00 pm.
  • ICDC participates with the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP).
  • CACFP meal plans are followed for each snack ensuring children are served a healthy snack.
  • Meals are served family style with teachers joining children at snack time.
  • A monthly menu is posted outside the classroom door for parents. A weekly picture menu is posted on the classroom door for children.
  • Children who have a food allergy are served an appropriate substitute.
  • When families have special dietary restrictions based on religion appropriate substitutions are provided.
  • Teachers will work with families to accommodate food allergies and special dietary restrictions.
    • ICDC follows the CACFP Special Dietary Needs recommendations.
  • Parents may be asked to provide doctor’s approved list of substitutes.
  • At all meals food is offered to children, and children are able to choose the foods they want to eat.
  • Water is made available at each meal as well as cups being provided at the classroom sink throughout the day.
  • All snacks will be provided by ICDC. 
    • Families may choose to provide an additional treat to celebrate a child’s birthday. Families will be made aware of any foods to avoid due to allergies.
